Hi Sue,
The Will of Margaret Kelly als Kerran or Kennan [see Lonan Burials], who was undoubtedly the wife of William Kelly d.1703 seems to make quite a strong case for them being the parents of William & James Kelly. Some concern re the Deed of Ann Kelly in that it refers to her brothers William & James "being both at full age" - unless at that time this was included in a "standard template" for Intestate's Deeds - why mention it? - they were both over 50 yrs old by then.
The Will of John Kelly fits chronologically, and his children's names reflect the family choice, but it is only a possibility until more evidence emerges.
Gilbert Tear and Isabel als Kelly look excellent possibilities for the parents of Marriott Hogg als Tear! Haven't had time to pursue the children/grandchildren yet. First thoughts - "grandson John" and "granddaughter M......" were probably not surnamed "Hogg", as was her "other granddaughter Marriot Hogg" - We know Margaret Hogg was b.ca 1688 [she died Jan 1772 at 83yrs] so she should not be named in the Will of 1686. Marriott Hogg d/o Marriot Hogg als Tear died Apr 1774, so she must have been 88+ yrs if she was the granddaughter named in 1686 - quite possible, even though ages ca 90-100 were often noted in the Registers [if they were aware of them, of course!]. Finally the "own" daughter Marriott is slightly worrying? - her husband did not name a daughter. However a Hogg did claim against Gilbert's Will!
On a lighter note, I had to modify a recent post to include "critical test" instead of "a..d test" [missing letters "c" and "i"]. So that's another one to add to the list! - but it took me some time to discover the problem via trial and error!
