Hello Mary,
In that 1861 census I posted for you (below) he was born in Lonan! (aged 30)
As his wife was older, he might have been even younger than he recorded on censuses, having added on a few years to get closer to her age?
These are possibles, with father Robert (who he gave at marriage?):
Robert illegitimate son of Robert Corkill & Margaret Kermeen bapt Maughold Parish Church 10 Mar 1833.
[Elizabeth illeg daur of Thomas Corlett & Margaret Kermeen Parish Church 12 Aug 1832. - Two Margaret Kermeens having illeg children?
Jane illeg daur of John Quayle & Margaret Kermeen Parish Church 30 Aug 1829.]
Robert son of Robert Corkill & Cath Kermeen bapt Maughold Parish Church 3 Aug 1834.
[Also Joseph illeg son of Robert Corkill & Cath Kermeen 13 Jan 1833.]
Robert Corkill & Catherine Kermeen married Maughold 30 Mar 1833.
Their other children:
CORKILL William Robert Corkill/ Cath Kermeen Parish Church 20 Nov 1836
CORKILL William Henry Robert Corkill/ Cath Kermeen Parish Church 16 Dec 1838
CORKILL Thomas Robert Corkill/ Cath Kermeen Parish Church 1 Jan 1841
CORKILL Dorothy Robert Corkill/ Cath Kermeen Parish Church 20 Aug 1843
CORKILL Judith Ann Robert Corkill/ Cath Kermeen Parish Church 20 Sep 1846
CORKILL Sarah Robert Corkill/ Catherine Kermeen Parish Church 30 Jul 1853
Plus possible Cath no-surnames:
CORKILL John Robert Corkill/ Cathe Parish Church 8 Apr 1849
CORKILL Jane Robert Corkill/ Cathe Parish Church 26 Apr 1849
CORKILL Ann Robert Corkill/ Catherine Parish Church 3 Aug 1851
CORKILL Elizabeth Robert Corkill/ Catherine Parish Church 7 Sep 1851
Censuses should sort out which children were their ones.
I seem to remember posting some of those Kermeen bapts before, but don't remember whether we were able to identify which of the Kermeen mothers had the Robert who married Mary Skillicorn - if he was bapt in Maughold and not Lonan!
