Sorry Sue for delay in taking action about your Corkill info. I have been busy buying certs. for Edward's second wife's family in Norfolk.[Jemima STARLING --an easy name to research.]
She stated on her marriage cert. in IOM that her father was a Gentleman---in fact fisherman. He ended his life in a family pub[widowed sister] in Norwich.Sadly his wife died young at the
Norwich Asylum.
At last I have started on the Corkill parents & have settled on Robert Corkill & Mary Skillicorn as you suggested. They married at Lonan on 24th Nov. 1850 & were both recorded as servants
at Gretchvooar Farm, Lonan. Fathers Robert Corkill, labourer & John Skillicorn Brewer. The eldest son was John James 1855 ? followed by William Edward 1857. & 4 more ? all at Gretch Vooar.
Robert was recorded as miner on baptism entries. King Orry's Grave is on Gretch Veg .the old Ramsey road goes through the middle of of the Stones. Presumably Gretch Vooar is close
by but I have difficulty finding it, Does anyone have knowledge about brewing at Laxey?
