Hi Mary,
This is a mystery - I was going to write saying that I thought Lois might have made a typo and that the bapt was in Lonan, but I see that it is on FamilySearch as well, as taking place in Maughold.
Tom's transcripts are in chronological order only up until 1849 - after that they are by family. And the only family I can find which fits this bapt is father Robert Corkill and mother Mary Clague.
These bapts are:
CORKILL William [parents] Robert Corkill/ Mary Parish Church 15 Feb 1852
CORKILL John Robert Corkill/ Mary Clague Parish Church 7 Jul 1844
CORKILL Robert Robert Corkill/ Mary Clague Parish Church 21 Dec 1845
CORKILL Thomas Robert Corkill/ Mary Clague Parish Church 31 Oct 1847
CORKILL James Robert Corkill/ Mary Clague Parish Church 18 Nov 1849
CORKILL Margaret Robert Corkill/ Mary Clague Parish Church 1 Jun 1857
CORKILL Judith Robert Corkill/ Mary Clague Parish Church 23 Jun 1861
The entry I saw before is on the new IGI (in Lonan):
name: William Edward Corkill
event: Christening
event date: 03 May 1857
event place: Lonan, Isle of Man
gender: Male
father: Robert Corkill
mother: Mary Skillicorn
digital folder number: 004497437
There were some young William Corkill burials in Maughold around that time:
William CORKILL 4 months Ramsey 14 Jul 1856
William CORKILL 2 Ramsey 26 Mar 1857
