Hi Penny
In trying to sort out the various spelling and date anomalies, I did end up spreading my net quite wide and I am happy to pass on the information I have gleaned to date. I am sure others will advise if there are mistakes - it's good that these pages seem to be being well read now. When I first started looking, a couple of years ago, there was so little.
John Kennah, b 21.06.1806 d 29.06.1806
James Kennah - (I have all of this down to my father). James and his wife, Mary Ann Corkill and almost of all of the children, stayed in the IOM
Nelson chr 13.07.1817 married Ellen Corkill in Liverpool 1844. Their children were Leah b 1847 and John, both born in Liverpool - I think I got this from this forum
William chr 23.10.1819 married Louisa (also transcribed as Lavinia) Hall in West Derby, Liverpool on 04.09.1859. Their children were:
James b 1872 Liverpool, married Mary E ? b 1876 Liverpool, children Louisa b a897 Liverpool and James b 1900 Liverpool
William b 1873 in Liverpool (may have married Mary Ladyman and may have had a child, Isack
Joseph b Dec 1875 died in the workhouse in Liverpool
Jonathan b 1877 in Liverpool
Nelson b 1877 in Liverpool probably died 1931 in Liverpool
I will now add in your Charlotte and Joseph neither of whom I'd known about until recently. With regard to Ann/Anne/Anna, I had the conflicting dates for her too - but I also have a death in 1825. If that's right and the christening date is incorrect, then she died as a baby which would explain why there seems to be no record of her later on.
My maiden name is Kenna. My dad was born in the IOM as were all of his father's side. I am in Hampshire now but spent 20 years on the Wirral and was at college in Liverpool so I can place the various areas of Liverpool from the records fairly well.
Neither of my parents has brothers or sisters so I have no aunts, uncles or cousins. It's therefore always exciting to find a relative, however distant!
I shall keep searching - but it's more difficult when the sun's out and the garden needs doing!
