I'm sorry to confuse the issue but, although Margaret is given as Joseph's mother in the 1851 census, in 1861 she is his down as his mother in law. That suggests that his wife was Sarah Craine. However, there is also a step-daughter, Margaret Jane Kelly, which would suggest that Joseph's wife might have been Sarah Kelly - or Margaret Jane may have been the illigitimate daughter of Sarah and a Mr Kelly.. However, to make matters worse, I also have a Thomas Kennah b 1781, married to Esther Kelly b 1791. I believe this Thomas to be the son of John Kenna(h) b 1744 and Catherine Cubbon who, I think, were also the parents of John Kennah, husband of Margaret. Someone else's tree shows Thos and Esther having a Joseph b 1823 but I can't find anything to substantiate that

I have had most of my information for ages and, frankly, can't remember how I came by it. Until now, I didn't have a Joseph as a child of John and Margaret Kennah. I had John, James (b 1812), William (b 1815, d 1818), Nelson (b 1817- ?) , William (1819-1835) and Ann/Anne/Anna (b 1825 and possibly died 1825). A Joseph b 1823 would fit in well.

I had a birth date for Margaret Fayle as 1791 (from the censuses) but that would make her only 14 if she married John in 1805 - I had also got that date. (I had John Kennah's birth as 1796 which also must be wrong.) This is what made me start to question my research but I couldn't get any further. I note you have Margaret's birth as 1788 which would make her 17, which is a bit more likely. I have their first son John b 21 June 1806, d 29 June 1806, which would fit well with the marriage date but would have made her only 15-18 when she became a mum. I know it''s not out of the question but it does not seem to be a family trait.

Can anyone confirm/add detail to the re- marriage of Margaret to Wm Craine in 1843. I can't find this. I would love some help with unravelling this as it gets more and more confusing.
