This is really tricky, isn't it ? I think that the reasons I suggested that John Caine, mariner, b Liverpool and Edith Cowle b 1868 IOM (married 1888 Liverpool) weren't the same couple as the John / Edith pair in the 1911 Douglas census, are these:

There's no daughter Lydia with them in 1891.

There's no Lydia and no Robert Henry with them in 1901.

Both the children who were with them in 1901 were born in Liverpool.

John, mariner, was born in Liverpool.

Edith was born at Dog Mills, Ramsey.

Have you looked for John, mariner, and Edith in 1911 Liverpool ? If you could find evidence that this family was in LP in 1911, then that would clinch it.

But this depends on just how sure Liz is that the 1911 Douglas family is definitely hers. I'll post a separate message about that.
