Re: Clucas Family

Dave

I have obtained a copy of the marriage certificate for Richard Pugh and Martha Clucas at Malew Parish Church on 6th November 1864 which shows: Richard's occupation as Private, 32nd Regiment; his residence as Waterford, Ireland and his father's name as Edwin Pugh (a gardener).

I have also found out that the 32nd Regiment (later the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry) was stationed in Curragh, Waterford and Kilkenny, Ireland during 1864.

Additionally the 1841 / 1851 Census records show a Richard Pugh born 1841, Sherston Magna, Wiltshire father Edwin and mother Ann. The 1841 Census also has a Leuane Beauchamp living with them and there is record of the marriage between Edwin Watts Pugh and Anne Beauchamp on 26th November 1839 at St Johns Baptist Church, Bristol.

This all needs to be checked out thoroughly but it could well be our man.

Hope it helps.

Derek
