Hi Frances, Sue and Brian. I have read your responses and appreciate you taking the time to help. I am wondering if we could get a consensus on whether it was Robert and Esther Or Peter and Elinor to determine which Robert was my ancestor. Born 1819 or 1820. If the death records show a Robert- widow of Esther- dying at age 91 then Sue is right, it would have put him married at 11. I am more inclined to go with Peter at this point. Now, were talking about Woods and Robins and Ballakilly. This is confusing. Also, how did the 1775 date come up. There was a m.i. at some point with Robert and Cathereine Quayle in 1839. This appears to be correct with my gggrandfather Robert -born 1844- as their son who came to Illinois in 1866. So, I believe Robert and Esther or Peter and Elinor are the suspects. There has got to be a clue somewhere. Also, with all the kids that would be my Aunts, Uncles and cousins, there might be a clue there. I am wondering if there are any descendants of Robert b. 1844 still in IOM. I know there are death records showing his siblings and am wondering if they had children who have had children that are still in IOM. Also, I can't find any of my cousins here in the U.S. from Robert B.1844. He had 5 kids and all I know is one named Eddie. Ulitimately, the further back I can go to determine if we are Irish, Scottish or Manx is my desire. It's not fun being told your whole life a heritage to discover later it is untrue.
