Interesting to learn about your WIGGIN name. I checked on QUIGGIN in Leslie Quilliam's book "Surnames of the Manks" and he confirms the origins from MAC UIGEANN, son of UIGE = Knowledge, Skill, Ingenuity, and from MAC TAIDHGIN son of Little Tadhg, etc. and thence to MAC QUIGGIN, QUIGGIN, and WIGGIN.
A.W. MOORE in his Manx Surnames has QUIGGIN as a later version of QUAGGIN and their origins have much in common.
Leslie Quilliam in his section on Surnames incorporated into Place Names, lists both BALLAQUIGGIN and a BALLAWIGGAN. The farm of BALLAWIGGAN appears to exist to this day as BALLAQUAGGAN on the Douglas to Castletown road near to the Blackboards at 297707 on the Ordnance Survey Maps.
