I am so amazed at what I have been reading here. You don't know how you are helping me unravel a mystery!! My surname ancestor appears in Colonial America by 1629; but he is a 'brick wall' we've been climbing for 20 years. I now strongly feel he may have come from Manx origins. He was a sea captain and brought a 'prize' into port at Man after 1627. This name changing fits right into the scheme of things. He was called WIGGIN (Thomas) which I think was Quiggin and before that MacQuiggin.
I am BRAND new at the Manx research and am hoping someone reading this has some knowledge of this surname.
What you've related here so far is just huge for me and I want to thank you.
I live in Florida, USA.
