England continued to use the Julian calendar up to 1751 whereas the Gregorian ("New Style") calendar had been adopted on the Continent in 1582 and in Scotland in 1600.
When looking at IOM records be aware that 1750 commenced on March 25th 1750 and ended on March 24th 1750/51.
1751 commenced March 25th 1751 and ended on Dec.31st 1751.
1752 commenced January 1st 1752 and ended Dec.31st 1752. However 11 days of September were omitted to bring it into line with the Gregorian calendar.
This was adhered to pretty consistently in England, but I've noticed the occasional doc from the IOM where the old style was still being used several years later.
