Hello again Mary,

I've been told that No.1 Henry Taubman, b.1776 (probably Arbory) was the one who married Jane STOWELL 20 FEB 1798 Malew, so I got the two Henry Taubmans the wrong way around. That information comes from his father John's will written 30 Jul 1803 Arbory, probated 13 Jun 1804.

So it was the Henry Taubman who is in the IGI as b.1780 in Malew who was in the two censuses with his son George, where he gave wildly differing ages for himself, and his birthplace as Rushen.

If you wouldn't mind looking for this Henry's bapt in Malew and Rushen between about 1770 and 1780, hopefully it could sort out this family! And also his marriage please to see whether it has any clues (wife wasn't in the censuses):

Henry Taubman Birth: 1780 Malew
Father: John Taubman
Marriage: 27 APR 1811 Braddan (to Esther Cowle?)

The 1851 census has Henry Taubman living with son George and family at Mill St., Castletown. Described as weaver (retired), b.Rushen. His age was given as 78 (was 60 in 1841, mariner). I can't find a burial for him.
