been reading more carefully. I was replying to your
6.28 post but making a mess of things ? Major John whose wife was a Christian from Cumbria bought The
Nunnery in 1797 .I understand a lot of the money came
from a chidless brother but as I have already mentioned the brother had an illegitimate daughter.Major
John's will too went to great lengths to ensure only legitimate heirs could inherit as I believe he knew his son
Col. John[ died 1812] had no legal heirs but 3 others inc. a posthumous child [1812] acknowledged before his death.
