Sandra, my concern was that the IoM FHS depends on the income from their publications and membership fees to exist. If they are no longer viable there will be no more published transcripts of burials, M.I.s etc., for the parishes not yet covered. There is no problem giving the help that everyone offers on the board, including the odd transcript of M.I.s, marriages, etc. However scanning and sending every entry of a particular name from a publication which is available for sale is completely different, and I'm sorry you can't see that if this becomes accepted practice it will damage the income of the FHS.
The reason I said at least ask whether someone is a member was because they are already financially supporting the FHS, and I don't think the volunteers who did the work would mind members being freely given limited information.
