Jean, I read both messages and I have searched the old R.C. records, but I can't find a marriage or death for Mary McCarthy, daughter of Hugh. I feel sure there is a link between my McCartans and the McCarthy's, but it seems to be eluding me. My g.grandparents originally came from the parish of Upper Drumgooland, Diocese of Dromore, County Down. I have located their records at the National Library, Dublin. My paternal grandfather's brother was another Hugh. I'll keep working on it! Marie Radcliffe
