It was one of those slim little booklets x2 printed
locally & no longer available in the shops. Fortunately they have it in the archives where I
believe all " Manx " books should be but there is
no legislation as in UK to ensure the library is supplied with 2 ?? copies of all new books. You have to get it brought to you & of course MNH
is not a lending library-----so 2 visits last week. The
author was a Nield from the ice cream parlour at the
bottom of Well Road. Chester St. & Wellington Sq. are
there & colourfully described . I stifled giggles many
times over--- a wonderful read ! The battles about
Sunday trading were some of the best bits & the
shopkeepers surviving. It reminded me of going to
Walpole Av. Herb Beer shop but that was OK because
you drank it on the premises.
