Liz,
Mrs McCartan who ran the grocery shop in Frederick St. was my paternal grandmother. Her parents and grandparents were all Irish. I have copies of all of their birth, marriage and death certificates. She was not related to the Crennell's, but obviously they knew each other as they lived in the same street.
