Re: SAYLE Bride
In Response To: Re: SAYLE Bride ()

Yes that's my great grandfather and his family. Daniel is my grandfather.

I'm sure I found him in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 Censuses. In the last two, it has the right age but the 1841 census had him 5 years younger which I attributed it to clerical error or someone guessing.

In that 1841 census, there were older children Mary, Elizabeth and Robert but I'm not sure what happened to them or where to check.aside from Brian Lawson's site where they don't appear. As we know, women disappeared from the records very quickly in those days. None of that "I'm keeping my maiden name" modernity.

Two of my great uncles James (mentioned) and Philip (b 1851) later moved to England, Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness respectively, and spread the Sayle name. If you are a Sayle from either of those places, then you're related to me!

I'm sure the John Sayle who died in October 1863 is my great grandfather. His "parameters" fit in with the information I've uncovered. His wife Ann, my great grandmother, died in 1891 as she was living with her son, my grandfather, Daniel.

As I mentioned to a message here to Liz, my Sayle family in Bride all seemed to be farm labourers so there's no one place that was their home for me to go, stand next to and feel... emotional! :)

If you mail me at "ralph AT Sayle.ca" i can send you a printout or a Gedcom file of my family! Gee, maybe we should collaborate on "The Great Book of Sayle".
