Re: A question about the Sayle family from Peel

Back in 1973, I was flying to the UK and our plane flew right over the Isle of Man. As I knew my dad was from the IOM it was one of those thrills that tourists can get..! Never managed to get that close to the Isle of Man ever since so it must be time!

My dad left the IOM for England in 1900 or before. According to the British Board of Trade records, he emigrated to Canada (Toronto) in 1911! Luckily for me, he managed to be unhealthy enough to not be wanted by the military in the Great War. Plus I'm sure he never went back to the IOM because of the wars, his health and the Depression. On the bright side, his last child was born when he was 69.

I have to go down to the Vancouver Archives some day as they have the old records of the Manx Society. See if I can see a mention of his name. I was told by my older brothers that dad was very proud to be Manx.
