I had looked at the several clues regarding the Lynchey family as well as others and I feel that possibly all of Lyncheys on the Island were at least related.
My search is basically to find a link between the convict Sarah, and her daughter Mary Ann [my GG grandmother] to a son possibly left behind or children if there were more than one. This would hopefully lead to finding the father, Sarah’s husband and perhaps other ancestors.
Probably the best indication of the father/husband’s name is the 1826 Dissenter Baptism recorded by Brian Lawson which states ....daughter of Michael Linchy and Sarah Mullan.
The only other record of names is on Mary Ann’s Death Certificate which states parent’s names to be “James Lynch Army Officer and Sarah Mullins the informant was Mary Ann’s daughter Sarah Dudley.
Regarding the cholera deaths these are best set out in Frances Coakley’s Manx Notebook which records the “Manx Sun” reporting on 2nd October 1832 amongst other cholera deaths …On Monday at Castletown….Michael McLinchey… and later in the same report…. Castletown on Thursday…Son of Michael McLuchy….
Brian Lawson’s transcriptions of Burials include…Michael Clenchey, 65, Malew 25/09/1832 and also William Clenchey, 14, Malew 28/09/1832…. In 1832 September 25th was a Tuesday and 28th a Friday, i.e. in each case the day after the cholera deaths recorded by Frances Coakley from the Manx Sun.
No Clenchey, McLinchey or McLuchy appear in Brian Lawson’s transcriptions of Births or Marriages or in Dissenter Baptisms.
If these deaths are Sarah’s husband and a son and the Indent stating five children is correct then no son was left behind as the fifth child was deceased
