Re: Lynchey family
In Response To: Lynchey family ()

Peter,

I've been reading some of the old threads. Am I right in saying that after a lot of research your priority now is finding any records linking Michael & Sarah (your convict ancestor) to their children who remained on the Isle of Man?

The best proof I can see is Charles' second marriage in 1860. Charles is recorded as Charles Linsey. He married Sarah Cordery on 1 May 1860 at St Thomas Braddan. He was a widower, a marine store dealer, of Castletown and most importantly his father was a labourer called Michael. Use this link to view and save this record:-

They had a son called Andrew in 1863. Notice the parents surnames here are spelt differently and perhaps more accurately, but in latin, Caroli Lynchy and Sara Convery:-

I think Andrew will have been the male child left behind. Charles and another possible brother John would have been old enough to look after themselves.
