Hello Averil.
Perhaps Frances meant that there is no will listed in indexes for Edmund Kneale d.1840 (but I haven't read the whole thread).
Regarding the volume which was missed out from being filmed, I think it was Arch. 1753, volume 1. I got some copies from the originals in the MM library when I didn't find them on film (should have been on LDS film no.0106220 - I don't know the number of the MM one). The LDS film covered several years and I was never successful in getting an answer from the MM when I asked them to compare the missing year with their film(s) to see whether it was only that one volume which had been missed from the filming.
However I'm pretty sure Brian had these missing wills on his index, or I had details from my copies of the same index on film which he was using.
Frances subsequently summarised all? the missing ones from that volume on her online Manx Notebook.

She has often said that there are many Epis wills recorded in indexes at the MM which were not on the old filmed indexes.
Jim Smith has transcribed several wills he came across when transcribing whole films which were not on any indexes, as has Joyce Oates.
