They had Anne, John, William and Margaret
William 1786 married Isabella Ratcliffe 1796 on 12/05/1805 they had Thomas, William, John, James, Edward and Robert
John 1812 - 1888 married Catherine Corlett 1811 - 1870 on 21/07/1832 they had Anne-Jane, Catherine, Susan and John
John 1847 - 1933 married Ann Kiley 1844 - 1906 on 10/06/1869 they had John
John 1871 - 1952 married Janie Fitzsimmons 1875 - 1928 on 23/02/1895 they had John James, William F, Anne-Sophia, Alexander and Dorothy.
The bit I am struggling with is Catherine Corlett as her mum is down as Anne Kneale and I cant work out where the Kneale comes from. Anne Kneale passed down Archdeacons Close in a will to John and Catherine - for a Quayle. How did she get the money to buy it? Who was she married to? When did he die as Anne is living with Catherine and John in 1861 and onwards at Archdeacons close...
The will.....
This is the last will and
Testament of me John Black
of the parish of Lezayre made,
declared and published this
the 11th day of December 1875
Whereas by a certain deed
or Paper writing bearing date the
7th day of September 1869 duly
signed and executed by John
Black, Catherine Black and
Ann Kneale purporting to be
an agreement on the part of
the said Ann Kneale agreeing
to put the said Catherine Black
her daughter and the said John
Black her husband into im-
mediate actual possession of
certain lands and premises
and of goods and Chatteles [sic] to
her belonging [previously bequeathed]
upon them and to be by them
possessed after the death of
the said Anne Kneale and also
purporting to be the joint will
and testament of the said John
Black and Catherine Black
and by which joint will it is
provided that certain lands
and premises to them belonging
called “Archdeacons Close” actual
in the parish of Lezayre and
certain lands in the parish of
Andreas purchased by them
from John Quayle should go
fall and descend to their eldest
son and Heir at law the sur-
vivor of them the said John
Black and Catherine Black
to have the right, power and
liberty of charging the said
Lands and premises with any
sum of Money not exceeding
Two Hundred Pounds and the
said Catherine Black having
departed this life leaving one
son and two daughters sur-
viving. I do declare it to be
my will and do now leave and
devise To my daughter Anne
Jane wife of Edward Curphey
the sum of Eighty Pounds
and to my daughter Susan
wife of Thomas Brew the sum
of Eighty Pounds; but should
the decease of either or both
of my beforementioned daughters
Anne Jane and Susan occur
previous to that of their husbands
and before possessing the said
Legacies – then, and in that case
the said Legacies shall be equally
divided between their surviving
children, respectively. And
further leave and devise to
my grandson Edward Henry
Curphey the sum of Twenty
pounds independent of what
may fall to him through his
Mothers decease as before
stated. And which three Legacies
of One Hundred and Eighty
Pounds I hereby make charge
