Thus no help in determining who schoolmaster was.
however the mortgages are more interesting

Corkill to continue in premises paying annual lawful interest;Witt Samuel Christian x, Wm Christian;Setting quest place 2s 6d rent
and Cottier surrendering mortgage to John Corkill NSM Oct 1776 27 - dated 20 May 1775;James Cottier(Balla-Keil) surrenders for £17 13s 2d to John Corkill(Kk Maughold) to discharge a mortgage principal sum £11 bearing date 28 Apr 1763 obtained from James Corkill of Ballashloe + £6 13s 2d being arrears of interest;Witt Wm Kermode, Dan Cowll
the sum mentioned is nowhere near that in deed of sale - no other mortgage I can see by James Corkill -
If John was s/o Cath Crow then suspect he was illeg child bapt Mau 17391223 - that meant he was eldest child of James but being illeg couldn't inherit - was the mortgage + deed a way around this + a mechanism to defraud Edward?
