Hi Tony,
There is a direct line from no.2, to no.7 (in bold) which includes Robert 14 Sep 1806.
I was writing a summary so I didn't include eldest son William's children and two marriages which had been discussed at length on the board.
Your direct line doesn't always go through the eldest son. If you look at no.3, on the list of children is Edward s/o James Corkill bapt 13 Feb 1658/59.
Then look at no.4 headed by the same Edward.
The same thing happens with no.5 where included on the list of children is John marr. Ann Kissag 1765, d.1821.
Then see no. 6 headed by the same John.
Sorry if it was confusing. Please let me know whether you can now see how your direct line goes down the generations?
By the way the double year shown for Edward's bapt [Feb.1658/59] is because the months in a calendar year changed in 1751 to what we have now, with the year starting on 1st January. In 1658 January & February and part of March were the same year as the previous December, with the new year having started on 25 March.
So we write both years to indicate that Edward was born in what we would now call 1659, although it was recorded then as 1658.
