After doing some more digging, and this is probably old news to all of you- but I did find Margaret Kermode (my 3rd great-grandmother) living in Maughold with a large group of Corkills. There were several different households but the most likely "John" seems to be aged 20 living with Thomas Corkill age 55 and Eleanor Corkill age 60. The only other John's in the family group were aged 15 and 9.
However in searching the birth index, it appears that the only John of this approximate age was bapt. 8 Oct 1820 and is the son of Margaret Creech.
Sue- I noted in a past posting that you are a descendant of Margaret Creech and Thomas Corkill. Do you know if their son John married Margaret Kermode? I have found John and Margaret on the 1851 census. They were married in 1846, so would have been living separately in 1841.
There are so many families- I just can't keep them straight from this vantage point. Thought you might know if I have found my family, or if I need to keep digging.
BTW The marriage record I found looks like it was for the other John Corkill in Ford County Illinois- as the birthdates are off as are the parents names.
