John Stephen appointed master Jany 1872 + Jane stephenson appointed mistreess (certificated) appointed 1872 to New hereafter called Central School Maughold - 1st entry in school logbook anames them followed on same page the inspectors report dated 7 Aug 1872. This school was built after the Government took over from the old parochial school.

It is likely that Jane got job at Jurby in 1880 which only had a single class room - about two years after her apointment there a 2nd classroom was added (c.182/3) and her husband appointed master (not found the entry however) - in the 1898 condolences to Mr Stephenson re death of wife stated that a new temporary mistress appointed and that they would also advertise for a new master.
