It has been wonderful to see this all come together. Your ancestor may indeed be the John James Kelly that helped to rescue the miners. It is only a theory that my John James died as a result of lung damage from the carbon monoxide in the mine but that may not be so, his illness may have been from something else. He may not have been involved in the rescue at all. That link is still missing.
In my response to John I made mention of a woman on the Isle of Man who was the granddaughter of John James Kelly, the rescuer, and also a descendant of Captain Kewley. Do you have any connection to Captain Kewley
