Re: Snaefell mine disaster
In Response To: Re: Snaefell mine disaster ()

Hi David,
Thank you for responding to my post regarding the Snaefell mining disaster.
The John James Kelly that I have in my family tree was also born in 1865. He is on the 1871 IOM Maughold parish census record listed as the son of James and Jane Cowin Kelly, my great grandparents. He married Mona Lawson June 21, 1888. He died June 27, 1897 in Laxey Glen of Phithisis (sp?) Pulomonalis and exhaustion. I am not certain that he died as a result of the Snaefell Mining disaster but we know that there was a John James Kelly that was helping with the rescue. As a trained nurse it was my medical reasoning that brought me to the conclusion that his death was a result of the disaster. There are a lot of missing links that I am trying to find. I am working on a family history book and I want to be certain that all of my information is correct. I would be sincerely thankful for any information that you can offer. I would love to have an obituary or a news article that mentions family members.
Thank you again. I am looking forward to hearing about your findings at the museum. Let me know if there is anything that I can do do help. I am willing to go to the Family History library in Salt Lake to gain more information.
