I'm a little nervous of using census information to make assumptions to 'fill in the gaps' as this information may not be reliable. For example, in one of my families the illegitimate child of the eldest daughter was passed off and recorded as another daughter, whereas as it should have been a grandchild. Sometimes households contain children from previous marriages on both sides, with all being listed just as sons & daughters. And so on.
