Thanks for your comments. A couple of days ago I wrote to John suggesting that he create a separate index under a different heading, perhaps “Index of Births and Baptisms (1901-1911)” – and write an explanation saying that some entries are from the official Index of Registered Births, but that it also includes people found in censuses etc. whose births have not yet been found in the official index - compiled by him.
Brian had only just started adding post-1901 entries from the official index, and these could be moved across to the new index.

His original index differed in that Brian used the actual full entries from the register to compile it, which is how he was able to include the parents' names, but the filmed register ends in 1900/01, depending on the parish.
I think it is important to keep the original index of registered births (compiled from the actual register) as Brian wrote it, apart from corrections or additions from the register itself. All the explanations he wrote, which he asked users to read, referred to Registered Births 1821-1901. I think it would be very confusing to introduce other records.
