I think the son Thomas (son of Hugh Caine/Mary Kneen) who was in America was somewhere other than Ohio.

The only Thomas Cain(e) of close to the right age I have located in Ohio is Thomas who married Jane Stephens at Lezayre, January 29, 1804. Their children were baptized at Jurby 1805 to 1827, and they immigrated, 1827 to 1832. From the census it looks like this Thomas was born about 1775 (75 in 1850 census, and age 86 when he died in 1859.

It is hard to locate Manx immigrants in places other than Ohio because generally their place of birth is given as England. Indeed, even when the census taker (rarely) wrote down “Isle of Man”, some higher-up usually crossed it out and wrote “England.”

I will keep looking for a Thomas Cain(e) (born about 1799, do you think?)
