I see there were 2 James and Ma(r)grets one from Maughold and one from Jurby. Since you have supplied a marriage record for the James and Margret from Maughold I would believe they were my ancestors because what are the chances that the other James also married a Margret Callow? There also seems to be variation in the spelling of Margret as in Magret. On the marriage license the clerk wrote Margret but it could have been Magret?
Thomas gave the census takers the following ages/birth years
1900 Lake county, IL 31/1869 this census asked for birth month the census taker records October
1910 Fon Du Lac, WI 39/1871
1920 Rockford, IL 43/1877
The Rockford newspaper says he was about 60 at time of his death in March 1924 (1864)
His death certificate says he was born Jan 3, 1855. The informant on his death cert was listed as; (papers found on deceased). I have doubts about all these dates.
So he would have been born sometime between 1869 and 1877 IF he he ever gave the correct year or as early as Jan 3, 1855 if his death certificate is correct (which I seriously doubt) I do believe his birth year to be between 1855 and 1869 as 1869 is the oldest he claims to be and every census there after his birth-date becomes earlier.
thank you very much Sue for looking up this info I have been searching for my Isle of Man ancestors for over 10 years and this recent find of his marriage license and your kind assistance has been the only success so far.
