Ron, it seems that we are both looking for Thomas’s subsequent history, so that’s as far as you or I can take it for now.

In 1986 I was in the Register Office at Lower Hutt and noted the Joughins in the indexes of births, marriages and deaths to 1900. I did not pick up a Thomas (apart from my relation, Rev. Thomas Alfred Joughin) in the marriages or deaths, nor Thomas as a father among those birth entries that I was able to copy. Getting information from that source was difficult in those days, as local genealogists agreed, but I believe things have improved since.
