Sometimes less is better - if there is a slight variation in the original document in any one of the details you give then it won't match, eg spellings, mother's maiden name not always given in baptism records, misreading of unfamiliar names/places by the transcriber etc. I usually put as little in as possible to get a wider search, and sift through the results that come up myself for the likely, sometimes obvious, one.
