Hi Kay
In an earlier message, by process of elimination, I'd narrowed down the possibilities for the identity of the John Kinvig who married Ann Watterson to only 2 candidates:
(1) John Kinvig b 1844 son of Daniel Kinvig and Jane Clarke
(2) John Kinvig b 1845 son of John Kinvig and Elizabeth Croaghan
They married:
a) Eliza Crellin in Arbory 1st March 1877
b) Ann Watterson in Rushen 15th May 1877
I've just looked at the 1881 census entry for the John Kinvig who married Eliza Crellin. This is definitely the correct household because living with 35 yr old John and wife Eliza are John's mother in law, Elizabeth Crellin 72, and his sister in law, Ann Crellin 36. John and Eliza have 2 children, John 3 and Emily Jane 8 months.
Looking at this John through all the censuses, following his marriage, he farms at Ballacomish, Arbory. And in 1851, 1861 and 1871, John Kinvig, son of Daniel Kinvig and Jane Clark, lives at Ballacomish, Arbory.
So the other John Kinvig, son of John Kinvig and Elizabeth Croaghan, is likely to be the one who married Rushen-born Ann Watterson. A further piece of evidence is that this JK was living in Rushen in 1871.
None of the above is absolutely conclusive, though. You need to see the marriage details of John Kinvig to Ann Watterson, or to ask some kind person to look it up for you. And just in case it doesn't mention the name of the groom's father, it would be helpful to know the marriage details of the John Kinvig who married Eliza Crellin, in the hope that it'll say "groom's father was Daniel Kinvig." I'll write a separate message, asking for look ups.
