Hello
Your initial query has thrown up some very intriguing puzzles ! So was Isabella b circa 1779 the mother or the grandmother of Edward Keig b 1828 ?
The only Isabella Kegg of the right age in Brian's census indexes for 1841 and 1851 ( I'm pasting in a block of entries to show that there were no others listed, and Brian's indexes are very reliable):

Edward's extracted Ballaugh baptism from the IGI (probably a late baptism when he was at least 2 yrs old, and in Ballaugh rather than in his birth parish of Lezayre---he gives his place of birth as Sulby in the censuses)

The IGI shows that Edward was the youngest of the children of James Keig and Isabella Kissack, who married 21 Dec 1802 Lezayre. Edward was born right at the end of his mother's childbearing years; she would have been late forties.

The Robert Kegg in both 1841 and 1851 households, age 15 and 26, plus the fact that both censuses show them living in the same place, demonstrates that Isabella was Robert's mother (so the son bap 1824 Ballaugh). The age of 66 in 1851 was a bit of wishful thinking, and the age of 70 in 1841 was probably supplied by someone who guessed wrongly. And Ned's age given as 15 in 1841 wasn't too far out.
For my money, the MI is correct in stating that Edward was Isabella's son, not grandson. The relationship of Isabella to Edward of "grandmother" written in 1861 was probably a mistake on the part of the enumerator who may have found it difficult to imagine that this old woman could be Edward's mother. Or else he erroneously recorded the relationship of Isabella to the 2yr old child in the household.
