That’s not quite all, Sue. As I said in my last posting, when she married John Kelly at Braddan in 1873 she gave her name as Emily Christian Joughin and her father’s as Robert Joughin, miller.
You were right about Margaret’s death. My transcript reads “1883 Jan 29 at Shaw’s Brow, Douglas, Margaret Joughin, 63, widow of James Joughin, late of Douglas, miller. Cause of death: apoplexy. Informant: Emily Kelly, wife of John Kelly, 16 Fancy Street, Douglas, present at death.” If she had put “daughter”, that would have been so helpful, if true. Perhaps "step-granddaughter" was thought to be too remote and cumbersome to state.
At the 1881 census Margaret was in the General Hospital and Dispensary, Douglas.
We have the names and birth dates of Emily's nine children.
