Thank you, Carol and Donna.
If "M Mann" hasn't already seen the MI for Edward and Emily, he/she will be delighted. But what a shame it doesn't mention Emily's maiden name.
Emily Joughin b 1831 is with her birth family in 1841 in Santon, and it's very likely that she's the Emily Joughin in Preston, Lancs in 1851 age 19 b IOM, as it's so unlikely that there was another Emily Joughin who was the same age. Then she disappears. She isn't in Brian Lawson's burial list, nor is there a death registered in mainland BMD. There's the Liverpool Dec Q 1865 marriage of an Emily Joughin mentioned by Philip, but when you try to look at "others on same page", there are only 3 names, and Emily is the odd one out since the other 2 were a couple in 1871. I have no idea how to find the name of the missing spouse, which was probably omitted because it was illegible anyway. If Emily Joughin b 1831 was the one who married Mr X in 1865, then we're looking for a different Emily as the wife of Edward Keig. But having said that, there's an Emma Joughin, servant, b IOM, age 18 in 1861 in Liverpool (Dale St 3q/4) , so she could be the EJ who married Mr X in 1865.
Quite a puzzle.
