I stayed at the Empress in Douglas and it was fine. I had a lovely time, the Island is beautiful and I found people really helpful. I didn't find as much information as I had hoped but I think my expectations were too high and I was very easily sidetracked. Even so, as a very amateur 'genealogist', I did ok and I am pleased with what I did. I will maybe go back next year and try to stay focused.
