The John Thomas Caine you mention in the 1881 census looks like the son of John Cain & Jane Clark bapt Lonan 18 Dec. 1851.

So that "Ramsey" (in one census only?) is a problem, otherwise the age fits better.

Was he ever recorded as John Thomas in other censuses or elsewhere, and did "Ramsey" appear more often as place of birth than in that one census?
