I think that we have to take Edward out of the picture, it was the wrong certificate. The correct certificate gives John's father (John) as a quarryman, John himself as a rivetter. The witnesses were Peter Boyle and Elizabeth Hogg. The marriage took place at St Mary's Catholic Chapel, Ulverston, (then Lancashire now Cumbria) on 7th Jan 1875.
