Greetings,
I am William Supernaw, an American who had a Manx mother, Edith M. Ford. Her parents were Lawrence Percy Ford and Jane Kelly from Douglas. They departed for the US in 1914. My Ford grandfather and Kelly family were Iron Miners who settled in Iron River, Michigan.
To the point. I am a Genealogist who has recently discovered that my maternal lineage leads directly to British and European Royalty. I am not totally surprised, due to the fact that it is in my Taubman family "folklore," that they were somehow of nobility. My grandfather being middle named Percy was another hint, I later found. The Manx surnames involved in this lineage are Taubman, Norris, Radcliffe, and Christian. In the US, I have been offering for free, a chart showing this connection, specifically for any Manx distant cousins out there. Surprisingly, I have had numerous requests. As I have just now stumbled upon this very fine website, I wish to offer the same.
For a free copy, simply email me at supernaw242000@yahoo.com
Please have a date of birth for your ancestor, as not all with the above surnames will connect to the chart. However, I will be happy to check. This too is free. Everything I offer is free. This is sort of a gift to what I have always felt of as a native homeland. My mother spoke often of being "Manx." It seemed important to her. At our local Celticfest, I have often represented the Isle of Man, even though I never have set foot on the land. Unfortunately, there was never anyone who represented the Isle, so I finally stepped up. In the process, I have however learned much about you. And have hand made many a three legged symbol. I do it rather well, I believe.
This shall be quite a different endeavor than usual, as I mainly deal with Americans usually with a very distant Manx ancestor. As you are current day Manx, I would ask that you provide a name of your most distant ancestor of the name that you wish for me to check for you, for a possible connection to the chart.
Finally, if there are any descendants of my mother's family out there, it would be wonderful to hear from a close Manx cousin. I never have. My daughter and I currently represent the last Manx-Americans in my family. If and when my daughter has children, that ancestry will not be lost, I can assure.
Sincerely,
William L. Supernaw
