Re: Douglas Borough Cemetery
In Response To: Re: Douglas Borough Cemetery ()

Sarah, it's just dawned on me why my 2 postings of 16th and 17th June appear in isolation instead of on the end of the thread "Re: Douglas Borough Cemetery" where they belong.
Having now noticed the [post response] option, I'll try that, and at the same time it gives me the opportunity to correct the mistake I made in my first attempt.

"Until I saw your posting, I'd assumed that there were no living descendants of Thomas Clague 1822-1912 and Margaret Elizabeth Moore 1824-1895, since their children Emily Esther (1862-1900), Catherine Christian (1864-1897), Thomas Samuel (1866-1892) and Margaret Alice (1869-1894) had all died without issue, and their eldest son, William Moore Clague b 1860, was an unmarried 40 year old in the 1901 census.

It's good to know that William Moore Clague married (in 1909 to Eleanor Quaggin ? -- according to Lawson's marriage index ) and had 2 children, one of whom was your father (Newell or James Philip ? )

My g g grandmother was Catherine Clague/ Clegg (1820-1913), sister of your g grandfather Thomas Clague.

Of all the children of Esther Kneen 1792-1881 and Thomas Clague 1790-1873, I know quite a lot about Catherine's family, but rather less about William's, Thomas's, James's, Robert's, Esther's, Jane's and Margaret's. I know nothing about John b 1814 or Richard b 1818.

I'd love to know more about Thomas Clague, Margaret Elizabeth Moore and William Moore -Clague, and whether any photographs of them exist. "
