Re: Douglas Borough Cemetery
In Response To: Re: Douglas Borough Cemetery ()

I am not certain, but I believe Thomas Clague of Santon was the son of John Clague(1759-1834) and Catherine Kermode(1760-1833). They married in 1781, and lived at Ballacregga, Santon.

There is some information in Thomas and Esther's Wills ref BM330 and BM 345 respectively. They are buried in Santon Graveyard.
Their children were
John 23 Oct 1814 (KR)
William 11 Aug 1816 (KR) m Jane Taggart 12 Jan 1860 (Malew)
Richard 17 Oct 1818 (KR)

Other oddments:
Jane Clague is a housekeeper with niece Elizabeth Taggart in 1871 - a relative of Jane Taggart? Also, William and Jane are at 1 Goldie Terrace in Onchan in 1881, and William is a Bootmaker. William's son, William Paul Clague, an Accountant, is described as "of Castletown".

Margaret and Robert live at Ballaglonna, Arbory in 1881.

There is a reference to Margaret Watterson, wife of Edward, in Esther's Will - unresolved, and a reference to Ann, widow of Robert. This is presumably Anne Kelly formerly Kneale and therefore Robert's father Thomas Clague is indeed the same one whose daughter Esther married John Collister.

All Thomas/Margaret's children are christened in Castletown St Mary.
All except William Moore Clague(chr 3 Oct 1860 CSM) are mentioned in Mon. Inscrip. below.
