Could someone please tell me who Edwin Gawne (born abt 1836) aged 15 was living with in Rushen in 1851.
Edwin was later a successful farmer in Malew and was married to Ann Kneen (b. abt 1835 Rushen) by whom he had a number of children. Census records have him as either born Rushen or Arbory.
Edwin had a sister/ half-sister, Sophia Crellin b.1831 who was the daughter of Edward Gawne and Margaret Crellin. This is probably Margaret's married name as in 1871 she is listed as a widow, aged 65, with Sopia's two sons Walter and Edward Brown.
I am trying to establish (a) who Edwin Gawne's mother was and (b) the identity of Edward Gawne.
