I am very interested in the proposed project, I have helped transcribe records within my local F.H.S. first step is handwritten from photocopiesof oiriginal records, then passed to 2nd person to type and save to disk, then printed typewritten sheets passed to 3rd person to check against original photocopies. Long winded perhaps but helps to assure accuracy. I would be happy to type up any records that could be obtained and either posted or downloaded. When using my local records office and viewing microfiche I am able to obtain a printed copy via the viewer at a cost of 40p (as someone mentioned in a previous message). I think you have the beginnings of a good project, and like my local F.H.S. why aren't I.O.M.F.H.S. members already active in computerising as many Island records as possible?
