Re: A Manx IGI

Sue answer is yes - look at http://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/famhist/genealgy/igibatch.htm - you need to 'guess' the new batch numbers - but as they cover several years in one parish they are usually easy to spot if you guess a name and a year. So far they are all in the 722xxxx and 723xxxx numbering range - I'm still looking for missing Kirk Michael marriages - my intention is to get a putative sequence then check against the Museum Microfilms when I get a chance. Brian I suspect prefers to type from the films and given easy access to them might well be the best - my nearest FHC is some miles away, open restricted hours and needs prebooking of readers.

The FHS will die for non-Island researchers unless they get actively on-line - in many ways they are getting to look like the Manx Society for preservation of documents in that they too provided a very necessary database but ran out of steam; they will always have an Island existence as the monthly meetings meet a social need and the ready availability of the Manx Museum means that on-line data is less important.
