Re: A Manx IGI
In Response To: Re: A Manx IGI ()

Having read all the responses to date, on a Manx IGI, I feel it is a massive task, even when you see our tiny island on the world map. I did a quick summary today on how many Manx names, I came up with approx, 156, I could be wrong but lets take it a bit further. Back in 1994 I obtained from "The Society of Genealogist's " in London a floppy A disk for the complete KNEEN IGI records only for Births /Christenings/ and Marriages in the Isle of Man. These total records for all events totaled over 3,000 entries, if we times this by remaining 155 names this equals almost half a million entries and this not counting any other records, deaths we know about. Just to clarify I am still updating these entries I obtained for £10 pounds sterling. So only another 155 names to go !!!

Please, this project would need a lot of research and compling and organisation.

Best wishes and regards for 2004.
